How does a Brazilian Butt Lift work? What are common reasons to have a Brazilian Butt Lift? Watch Dr. Rajagopal answer these questions on KRON 4′s body beautiful:
A full buttock area has always been denoted with a more sensual and feminine body. In fact, even newer studies examining what men found more attractive was a larger buttock (hip) to waist ratio. We all know the classic Marilyn Monroe proportion of 36:24:36.
The Brazilian Butt Lift addresses the desirable characterists of an attractive female body. This is done with liposuction of the waist, abdomen, and trunk areas to harvest fat. This fat is then purified, such that the top level of fluid, serum, and red blood cells are removed and the pure fat is re-injected with serial injections.
Butt Lift vs. Brazilian Butt Lift: What is the difference? Which is better? Dr. Rajagopal discusses:
The beauty of this procedure is that the fat can be transferred to specific areas of the buttock depending on the preference of the patient and the aesthetic eye of the doctor. This is where good communication with the patient is essential so the doctor is taking into account what the patient desires and finds attractive.
Q & A
A. There are generally 2 ways to perform buttock augmentation.
1. Brazilian Butt Lift
2. Butt Implant
A. Dr. Rajagopal prefers the Brazilian Butt Lift, as this produces a more natural, softer looking, feeling buttock without the risks of implant, such as hard, unnatural appearence, and complications, such as asymmetry, infection and open draining wounds.
A. Fat is harvested from the abdomen and trunk. This is done with a low pressure aspiration such that the fat cells stay viable. This extracted fat is handled gently, cleaned and set aside for re-injection. This harvest and re-injection process needs to be done carefully as this is what yields long lasting results.
A. The majority of the donated fat will live or “take.” Generally after approximately 2-3 months, final results are seen. If at the end of this period someone wants more fullness, than any stored fat may be injected to further enhance the results.
Dr. Rajagopal answers this question on Body Beautiful:
A. Generally we have patients take 1 week off work. Also we recommend you do a minimum of sitting for the first week. At 4-6 weeks, you can resume exercise. You will need to wear a support garment for 4-6 weeks to compress the liposuction areas.
A. It shouldn’t “harm” the results unless you loose weight from doing the exercises. Also, it depends on the “memory” of the fat. If the fat was harvested from the stomach, and your stomach fat has a tendency to loose weight quickly while doing exercises, the fat that was removed from your stomach and transfered into your buttocks will react in the same way. In general, it is advisable to wait to have the procedure until you are at? a stable weight.
