The Best Candidates For Hair Transplant Surgery

To be a successful candididate for hair transplant sugery, you need to have a decent amount of donor hair in the back of your head. If you are almost entirely bald the hair transplant surgery may not be an appropriate hair loss treatment.

The best candidates have curly hair (because curly hair fills up more space) and most importantly, a large donor area.

Most importantly, hair restoration candidates need to have realistic expectations about the outcome of their surgery. The outcome of your hair transplant surgery depends largely on the density and thickness of your donor area.

The Procedure For Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair Restoration surgery is performed under local anethesia, and normally lasts about 4-6 hours.

The hair restoration procedure begins with an incision made in the in the back of the head that spans from ear to ear (this is the donor area).

The removed hair is cut it into tiny little single hair (follucular units) or mutiple hair pieces (micro-grafts), taking care to make sure that the root isn’t damaged. Then, tiny incisions are made in the thinning or balding area, and the micro-grafts and follucular units are strategically placed to ensure the best results. This is where the aestheic eye of the surgeon is important–determining optimal placement of the hair to ensure the best results.

Recovery time typically lasts several days. You usually have some swelling. In about 2-3 days you can return for work.
