Botox San Francisco Bay Area
San Francisco Botox® Cosmetic Center
is the downtown San Francisco office of Dr. Usha Rajagopal (female
board certified plastic surgeon). She is well recognized for her expertise in cosmetic surgery in San Francisco Bay Area. Botox® Cosmetic, or Botulinum
Toxin, is used to eliminate or reduce facial lines or wrinkles
such as frown or worry lines of the forehead, lines between
the eyebrows, crows feet, laugh lines or other wrinkles sometimes
called dynamic wrinkles, and wrinkles caused by and aging skin.
Botox® Cosmetic can also be used to contour the jaw line,
eliminating the look of excessive fullness of the cheeks. At
the San Francisco Botox® Cosmetic Center, our product is
guaranteed to be fresh and concentrated, not diluted.
The Best Candidates For
Botox® Cosmetic
The best candidates for the procedure
are those between ages of 25 and 65. In many cases, wrinkles
in people over 65 are not caused by muscle pull but rather
sun damage; however, each person is different and must be
evaluated.
The Procedure For Botox®
Cosmetic
The procedure works by physiologically
weakening the facial muscles beneath the skin that are related
to expression lines. The contractions of those muscles result
in wrinkles. Botox® Cosmetic works by blocking the impulses
from the nerve to the facial muscles thereby relaxing them.
The result is that the underlying facial muscles relax, resulting
in a smooth, unwrinkled look.
No sedative or local anesthetic is used
because the pain associated with the procedure is minimal.
A small amount of discomfort is felt when the needle is inserted
and the liquid injected. This sensation lasts approximately
5 seconds. Because we use a very concentrated form of Botox®
Cosmetic, the pain amount is lessened and the chance
of diffusion to unwanted muscles is greatly diminished.
Botox® Cosmetic
is injected into various locations on the face. The needle
is extremely small and only a tiny amount of liquid is injected
at one time.
After Your Botox®
Cosmetic Treatment
Patients can return to normal activities
immediately after the procedure, although some people experience
a mild headache after the procedure. Acetaminophen may be
recommended if this should occur. Dr. Rajagopal also recommends
that the patient not lie down for five hours following treatment,
and to avoid exercise or heavy lifting for 24 hours. Most
of all, the area must not be massaged for 24 hours. Some facial
exercises may be helpful. The treatment takes three to eight
days to take effect. The benefits will last for an average
of three months.
When the toxin begins to wear off, the wrinkles
begin to reappear; however, they frequently are not as deep
as the original ones. It usually take two or three injections
each year to maintain the smooth, youthful appearance year
round that is desired. With repeat treatments, the effect
may last longer.
Botox®
Cosmetic For The Underarms (Axillary Hyperhydrosis)
Botox® Cosmetic
can also be used for severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis,
that can not be managed with topical agents. Usually about
100 units are used in treatments performed on the underarm
area (and results can last 6-9 months). Botox®
Cosmetic provides lasting duration with consistent
control and compelling results.
