The Madonna Eye Lift: A Nonsurgical Solution

madonna eye liftDo you have lines, wrinkles, or sagging skin around your eyes? If so—and if you would prefer a nonsurgical solution to your problem—you’ll be happy to hear that we are now offering the Madonna Eye Lift here at the San Francisco Plastic Surgery & Laser Center. Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) has been around for a long time for a reason: it is a safe procedure that produces excellent results. It’s also, however, a surgical procedure, which means a longer recovery time. The Madonna Eye Lift, in contrast, is performed using a fractional CO2 laser, a newer and safer version of the traditional CO2 laser used for skin resurfacing—which means that not only do the treatments take mere minutes, they also lead to a whole lot less downtime.

The kind of CO2 lasers used for the Madonna Eye Lift are referred to as “fractional” because they work by splitting the laser beam they produce into hair-thin beams of light that allow for very precise targeting of the area being treated—in this case, the skin around the eyes. When the laser beams penetrate the skin, they break down the old collagen that’s causing your skin to fold and sag, making room for new collagen to grow in its place. As this happens, the skin tightens and assumes a more youthful appearance. Fractional CO2 laser treatments can dramatically reduce the appearance of dark rings and wrinkles around the eyes, tighten the skin on the eyelids themselves, and perk up drooping eyebrows.

As I mentioned above, each laser treatment takes only minutes. We’ll apply a topical anesthetic around your eyes before beginning to minimize discomfort (you may still feel some tingling or heat on your skin during treatment, but nothing extreme!).

It’s normal for the skin in the treated area to get a bit red and puffy immediately following the procedure, but this goes away after a day—and until it does, it’s fine to apply makeup, which means you don’t have to take any time off work or hide out in your house until you’ve healed!
