Announcing Belotero Balance at the SF Plastic Surgery & Laser Center!

Dr. Chui-Collins and I are thrilled to announce that we are now offering Belotero Balance treatments here at the San Francisco Plastic Surgery & Laser Center! Belotero is a new dermal filler that was recently approved for use by the FDA for smoothing fine lines and folds in the skin. Like Restylane and Juvederm, Belotero is made with hyaluronic acid (HA), a material that actually exists naturally within the body already. HA binds with water, which is what makes it the perfect base for a filler—when injected, it binds with the water under the skin and fills in the wrinkles and folds there.

Why have we decided to add Belotero to our roster of fillers when we already offer Restylane and Juvederm? Because Belotero has unique properties that make it extremely versatile—it adapts so well to the areas where it’s injected that it can be used both for deep treatment areas (like smile lines and forehead creases) and for delicate areas (like the thin lines that begin to develop above the upper lip as we age). Belotero’s manufacturers claim that its one-of-a-kind formula significantly reduces the likelihood that patients will develop the slight lumpiness that are sometimes experienced with other fillers.

Like other fillers, Belotero is administered through injections with a fine-gauge needle. The treatments are simple and quick, and the effects can last for up to six months before beginning to wear off, depending on the patient.
