What Can I Eat on the hCG Diet?

There are three phases, each one with different rules. Your doctor will walk you through these before you begin receiving injections. The longest phase of the hCG diet, however, is the most stringent one: it requires that you eat only 500 calories per day. During this phase, your intake should be high in protein and low in fat and starchy foods. Some of the things you can eat during this time are lean meats, eggs, vegetables, and some fruits; meanwhile, you’ll need to avoid oils, butter, nuts, sugar, alcohol, most dairy, pasta, and fruit juice, among other foods.

Breakfast For breakfast, you can only take liquids, such as tea, coffee, or water. Sugar is forbidden (though Stevia is allowed) and only one tablespoon of skim milk is permitted per day.

Lunch & Dinner Lunch and dinner should consist of 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of carefully weighed meat, such as veal, extra lean beef, chicken breast, white fish, lobster, crab or shrimp. All visible fat must be removed before cooking. Fatty fish such as eel, tuna or herring is not allowed. The meal must also include one of the following vegetables: spinach, chard, chicory, beet-greens, green salad, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus or cabbage.

Snacks According to the hCG protocol, one bread stick or one Melba toast along with an apple, orange, one half grapefruit or a handful of strawberries can be eaten either as a snack or with a meal. Fruits & vegetables high in sugar & starch are not permitted. That means no corn, grapes, bananas, etc.

Cooking & Spices When it comes to cooking and flavoring, no added fat or oil may be used, but you can use seasonings such as spices and herbs, vinegar, salt and pepper. Anything not listed in the hCG protocol is forbidden for consumption.
