Juvederm Voluma XC

What is Juvederm Voluma XC?

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC injectable gel is the first and only FDA-approved filler to add volume to the cheek area, resulting in a subtle lift. It helps to restore contour and give a more youthful profile, for up to 2 years, in patients over the age of 21*.

How does it work?

Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). Much like a sponge, its primary function is to bind and absorb water, which creates volume in the face. In this way, Hyaluronic acid can be thought of as the body’s internal moisturizer.

But as you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. This lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds – like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth. Using a dermal filler like Juvederm Voluma XC can be an effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, helping to restore volume and smooth facial wrinkles and folds.

Why Juvederm?

While there are a variety of hyaluronic acid fillers, Juvederm Voluma is uniquely formulated as it uses a manufacturing process called HYLACROSS™ technology. HYLACROSS™ gives Juvederm Voluma its special smooth-gel structure that holds up over time. That’s why Juvederm Voluma is the first smooth-consistency HA gel and the only HA filler that’s FDA approved to last up to one year with only one treatment (or 2 years with optimal treatment).

What is the procedure for Juvederm Voluma?

Voluma XC dermal filler is a nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment.

Using a fine needle, Juvederm Voluma is eased under the skin to fill the soft tissue of the dermis. This adds volume and diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and folds instantly. After 24 hours, you should be able to resume your normal activities. Side effects are moderate and generally last 2 to 4 weeks.

Common side effects include temporary reactions at the treatment site such as tenderness, swelling, firmness, bumps, bruising, pain, redness, and itching. Any authorized healthcare professional can administer Juvederm Voluma injectable dermal filler, but plastic surgeons, dermatologists, or doctors specializing in cosmetic procedures are more experienced in administering wrinkle treatments.
