Trouble in Bed: Can the “O-Shot” Rescue Your Orgasm?

Women deserve better sex. But what can the “O-Shot” do about it?

The “O-Shot” or “Orgasm Shot” is a simple, non-surgical injection designed to improve the quality of sex for women. The injection uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to sensitize the vaginal area and alleviate physical dysfunction.

Across the world, over 10,000 O-Shot procedures have been completed in over 17 countries. The O-Shot has been featured in major publications for its rejuvenating properties. Why do so many women seek out O-Shot for their sexual issues?

Here are 5 thought-provoking facts about sexual dysfunction and the O-Shot.

1. Female Orgasm Is Less Common Than You Think

Women’s Day magazine says that 1 in 3 women have difficulty reaching orgasm, with 10% unable to reach climax. “The inability to orgasm, is very common-- as high as 43 percent, according to some surveys,” says nurse Lisa Stern in the magazine. A 2011 study found that 8 out of 10 American women fake orgasm during intercourse. Of the participants, 1 in 4 faked their orgasms 90% of the time.  Female sexual dysfunction, including arousal and orgasm, affects millions of women.

2. The O-Shot Affects Sex In Several Ways

The O-Shot enhances the quality of sex through targeted injection. The O-Shot delivers platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to the clitoris and the “O-Spot” within the vagina. Healthy and responsive tissue is created by growth factors released from the platelets. A majority of women experience increased sensitivity, a stronger sex drive, and consistent arousal from this invigorated tissue. From the increased blood flow and nerve growth, vaginal and clitorial orgasms become more intense and frequent after a single treatment.

3. The O-Shot Is For More Than Sex

The O-Shot procedure can treat both stress and urge urinary incontinence for 90% of women, while increasing lubrication in the vagina. Many women experience uncomfortable vaginal dryness and urinary incontinence caused by aging, pregnancy, menopause and other medical conditions. Urinary incontinence can affect women of all ages, but the issue is most prevalent among older women. Another benefit of these injections are more youthful and smoother looking vaginal lips.

4. The “Magic” Is In Your Blood

Where does the PRP in an O-Shot injection come from? Your own blood. Studies in the Advances in Skin & Wound Care and Journal of Drugs in Dermatology show that when PRP is injected into the body, stem cells multiply and grow new tissue. In the same way PRP is used to regenerate facial skin, it can regenerates healthy vaginal tissue. Similar treatments are used in sports medicine to treat aid in injury recovery for athletes.

5. It’s Fast, Painless and Non-Surgical

There’s little pain or discomfort during a 30-60 minute procedure. Injection areas are given topical anesthesia with the clitoris numbed with lidocaine. Using an FDA-approved process, PRP is separated from blood (taken from the arm).  Once PRP is injected into the clitoris and the upper vagina the procedure is complete. Effects of the O-Shot, such as increased arousal, is often felt days after application; with the full effects of the shot developing in 3 weeks. O-Shot benefits may last as long as 2 years.

The O-Shot requires a licensed and certified physician to administer. To find out more about the O-Shot and other advanced Vaginal Rejuvenation techniques, you can contact Dr. Usha Rajagopal in her San Francisco office at (415) 392-3333.

Top 6 Labiaplasty Myths Debunked

Labiaplasty involves the reduction and sculpting of the labial tissue, through elaborate techniques and state-of-the-art technology. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the surgery, people don’t discuss it openly, which has led to several labiaplasty myths and misconceptions.

Common Labiaplasty Myths and Misconceptions

Vibrators and/or excessive sex leads to enlarged labia

Definitely not! Regardless of the type of sexual activity you prefer, or how many times you indulge in sex, the labia aren’t affected in any way. On the contrary, the features of the vulva are gauged by the genetic traits that you inherit from your parents.

Labiaplasty is painful

Labiaplasty deals with delicate partd of the body, so you might feel a tad uncomfortable while in recovery, but it is not painful in any way, even if it might seem counterintuitive. If there is any post-operative pain, it is temporary and can be treated with suitable pain medication. Your doctor will take care of all minute details.

It is just for cosmetic reasons

Yes, there are a lot of women who do it for enhancing the appearance of the labia aesthetically, but that isn’t the only reason. Labiaplasty has various practical applications too, because an overly long labia can be problematic. Taking part in outdoor activities like cycling or running becomes extremely uncomfortable if the labia are excessively large, and coupled with heat and sweat, it might cause constant itching.

Gynecologists perform labiaplasty procedures

A gynecologist is responsible for the overall health of this part of your body, but they are usually not trained in specific surgeries involving the labia. It requires specialized training to perform this type of procedures, which are not a part of standard medical school education.

Sexual stimulation is reduced

On the contrary, women have reported about experiencing an improvement in sexual stimulation once they underwent labiaplasty. There is no chance of your sensitivity getting diminished, because the nerve endings responsible for sexual sensation are situated elsewhere.

Labiaplasty requires a long recovery

While it is true that you should refrain from indulging intimate activities for a few weeks, the recovery time doesn’t take months – you just need to give it 4 to 6 weeks to heal properly. There is no need for a catheter nor do you have to be bedridden during this time!

Now that the labiaplasty myths are clear, you can reach an informed decision about your surgery options. If you would like to know more, talk to Dr. Usha Rajagopal, a veteran in the cosmetic surgery field with over 20 years experience.

Vaginoplasty / Labiaplasty After Care

Tips for Post-Treatment Care

A lot of women feel awkward and embarrassed to engage in sexual intercourse after childbirth, because the vagina muscles become lax and lose firmness. However, this issue can be easily corrected via vaginoplasty and labiaplasty. You can regain your sexual prowess along with a tighter, more youthful vagina at the same time. These procedures also boost confidence and provide subtle motivation for those who are extremely self-conscious.

About the procedure: Every woman has a different kind of body, so the scope and extent of surgeries required will also vary. When it comes to vaginoplasty, a surgeon removes excessive tissue and tightens the remaining ones. Any soft region can be adjusted later with several related treatments. Labiaplasty corrects the shape of labia by reducing its size and changing the tissue structure for regularity. After the surgery is over, the incisions or cuts are sutured with soluble stitches that leave barely perceptible marks.

What happens after the treatment? After your procedure, you'll need to get through the recovery period, which takes a few weeks.  Here are some tips that will help:

  • Right after undergoing the treatment, you might feel painful sensations. While the pain isn’t excruciating, there are chances of inflammation around the nether regions that cause discomfort. The “bloated” feeling will also go away in a week or two. Discuss these issues with your surgeon so they can prescribe the necessary medications.
  • It might be tough for some to abstain completely from sex, but you must allow a healing period of 4 to 6 weeks as the vagina is a sensitive part of the body.
  • If you get your period, don’t use tampons unless a minimum of 10 days have already passed since the procedure.
  • Urine is acidic, so it causes a slight burning or tingling sensation while urinating, when it comes in contact with the healing incision. Wash the area thoroughly with water and keep it clean before and after urinating. Contact your doctor right away if the burning feeling doesn’t subside soon.
  • It is advisable not to move for 2 to 3 days after the operation. The capability to resume everyday tasks is based definitely on exactly how certainly your system recovers after the surgery. Let your body rest and relax during this time.

Considering Labiaplasty?

Protuberant labia, is a condition in women where the genital folds are excessively large or asymmetrical. Even though this part remains covered most of the time, it can create issues of low self-esteem and negative body image. Women become even more conscious if they have to wear body-hugging clothes or swimsuits. This condition can lead to physical discomfort during sexual intercourse too.

Why should you consider labiaplasty?

It is a specialized surgery for correcting irregular or overly large labial appearance, by toning down the outer folds of the labia minora, the tissue surrounding the vulva of the vagina. It serves both medical and aesthetic purposes, while boostingconfidence and helping her feel well emotionally and physiologically. Here are the reasons for undergoing labiaplasty:

  • Oversized vaginal folds.
  • Asymmetrical labia.
  • For a firmer, toned vagina.
  • Discomfort in physical activities due to the size or thickness of the labia.
  • Discomfort when wearing tight clothes because of labial size.
  • Labial disease or injury.
  • Hanging or protruding labia.

The actual procedure

Labiaplasty demands intricacy but it is a minor surgery and performed as an outpatient procedure. The traditional method was to remove the excess skin by cutting it off, and sewing it up over the edge. But there was a major drawback – it left a long, vertical stitch line. An improved version is used these days where the protuberant skin is cut into a V-shape, while the upper and lower edges are stitched together. It is sutured efficiently to look like a tiny transverse line. At times, vaginoplasty is performed together with this procedure – it strengthens the vaginal walls and cavity.

Post-operation

Since the procedure is performed in a sensitive area, you might feel slightly uncomfortable after the surgery, but you can take pain medication subscribed by the doctor. Heavy exercises and sexual intercourse should be avoided for 3 to 4 weeks just after the surgery. If there is any swelling, it is temporary and heals quickly. Soluble stitches ensure the incisions are hardly visible after a few weeks.

As with any operation, there could be chances of bleeding, infection and scarring, but on minor levels only. If there is a possibility of under-correction, it can be taken care of by a second operation. That is why it is necessary to choose your surgeon carefully, after researching and verifying credentials. Benefits of Vaginoplasty or Vaginal Rejuvenation

As we age, our body goes through several changes – loosening of the vagina being one of the primary effects of natural aging. Childbirth is also one of the reasons why the vaginal tissues become lax. But thanks to advanced technology and medical breakthroughs, it is possible to restore the tightness of the vaginal walls and opening. Vaginal rejuvenation ensures that you regain the firmness and tone of the vagina via lasers and or reconstructive surgical procedures. It will help to boost strength of the walls and restore muscle control and sensations that were affected due to hormonal changes, aging, or childbirth. There are numerous benefits of vaginoplasty, such as:

Comfort A loose vagina causes a lot of discomfort and unease due to constant friction. It often leads to itchy and painful sensations too – you might feel like scratching them to ease the itching but it makes the situation even worse.  A woman’s body differs from person to person, so your surgeon will examine you to determine the severity of the procedure in order to take care of these problems. Tightening it will ensure you don’t experience any awkwardness or have to scratch your delicate regions to get rid of the itch. You will feel confident and better about yourself. Women with a firm vagina tend to exude more poise when it comes to sexuality too.

Aging Aging is natural – we can’t stop it, but we can definitely combat its effects like the loosening of your vaginal cavity. As time passes the vagina loses firmness due to various hormonal changes that manifest with the onset of aging.  But through surgery, sagging skin can be removed along with excess fat and stretched out muscles can be tightened. Vaginoplasty will help you regain some control over aging and make you feel young once more.

Sexuality Your sex life might have taken a backseat or been somewhat hampered, but with a tight vaginal opening, it can get back on track. It is a sensitive issue, but extremely common when women start aging or experience childbirth, especially if they have more than one child. Once the muscles and tissues are tightened you can enjoy similar pleasure and orgasms like you used to. Sexual intercourse becomes much more fun!
