Cheek Lift

A cheek lift (also called a vertical cheek lift) can significantly reduce wrinkles, sagging skin or a depressed appearance in the cheeks. As a person ages, the cheeks (which are situated over the cheek bone) descend, aging the lower eyelid and deepening the upper part of the smile line. A cheek lift repositions the cheek frame in an upward direction. The cheek fat is repositioned along with underlying fascia and muscle, creating more youthful eyes and softening the smile line. The incisions for the cheek lift are made beneath the lower eyelash line (similar to an eyelid tuck or Blepharoplasty surgery). The surgery takes approximately two and a half hours and most people are back at work in seven to ten days.

After Your Procedure

There is a minimal amount of discomfort following your procedure. There will be swelling and bruising that may last from seven to ten days. Keeping your head elevated and applying cold compresses will help to reduce swelling. As your incisions heal, you will notice some itching and possibly some numbness. These symptoms will diminish over time. You may wear make-up after three days and your sutures will be removed in seven to ten days. Strenuous activity is restricted for six weeks.

For a less invasive procedure, consider Juvederm Voluma XC, a filler for adding volume and restoring contour to the mid-cheek area.
