Microdermabrasion in San Francisco
Microdermabrasion uses aluminum oxide crystals to finely resurface superficial layers of the skin. The crystals pass over the skin and are then removed from the skin’s surface with a vacuuming pressure to stimulate reproduction by fibroblasts at the basal layer, and new cell growth and blood flow. There is minimal discomfort and a fairly rapid appearance of the desired benefits. It is an easy way to evenly and safely exfoliate the skin without chemicals or lasers. Microdermabrasion treatments are used to treat acne, hyper-pigmentation (sun damage & age spots), polish the surface of the skin, reduce minor imperfections of the skin (scars & fine wrinkles), and help stimulate natural Collagen production. Treatments are not recommended for deep wrinkles, deep scars, or stretch marks. For more severe conditions, Infini RF is recommended as a treatment option.
Microdermabrasion treatment is appropriate for both men and women, but may not be appropriate for all skin types. The number of treatments recommended will be determined by one of our nurses at the time of your consultation. A series of treatments (6-8 treatments done once every 10 days) is usually recommended for maximum results. One treatment will last approximately 30 minutes.
After the Treatment:
Microdermabrasion leaves the skin slightly pink and sensitive to touch for a couple of hours. Most patients go directly back to work or other normal activities. Your skin may feel tight for the first 24-48 hours. You may also experience some moderate skin peeling. Avoid direct sun exposure, and swimming immediately after your facial treatment. Wear a sun block or sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 daily.
